Jewellery Care
SPECIAL OCCASIONWEAR
Please note that some pieces are intended for special occasion wear only, and wearing layered garments such as a coat over them is not recommended. Take care to remove any delicate pieces before carrying out household tasks.
STORAGE
Store your jewellery in a dry place—ideally in its original box. Airtight bags or anti-tarnish storage pouches help slow down tarnish.
Please avoid getting it wet, leaving it in direct sunlight and contact with cosmetic products and household chemicals. My work is made from a variety of materials, and understanding their individual care requirements will help keep your jewellery in the best possible condition. For a full professional clean and re-finish, please get in touch.
FOR PIECES MADE FROM SILVER
For polished silver pieces, use silver dip or a silver polishing cloth to return the shine. To restore a matt finish, gently rub the surface in a circular motion using a softened green scourer.
FOR SILVER PIECE COMBINED WITH OTHER MATERIALS
Do not use silver dip. To restore a polished finish, gently rub the silver with a silver cloth until it shines. For a matt finish, use a softened green scourer and rub in a single direction/circular motion, taking care of the surrounding materials.
OXIDISED SILVER
Oxidised silver has been created through deliberate patination and has a black/dark grey finish. This will wear over time,— especially on areas that experience frequent contact, such as rings, adding to the character of the piece. Do not place oxidised silver items in a silver dip or use a silver cloth as this will remove the oxidisation. Instead, gently rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft cloth. For textured areas, you can use a soft toothbrush, cotton bud, or tissue to lift build-up.
WOOD
Wood is finished with a protective coat of beeswax. If it becomes wet, allow it to dry completely before resealing it with a thin layer of beeswax applied using a soft cloth or cotton bud in difficult-to-reach areas.
GLUE
Some connections between wood, glass, textiles and silver are reinforced with epoxy glue which forms a strong bond. If something does break, crystal-clear Araldite (widely available) can be used to repair the connection.
